Each year we decorate two large paper hearts, staple them together and stuff it to make one large padded heart.
The class discussed which adults help us at school, we looked at the Specialist teachers that come to our class. Both classes decided Ms. Lane had to receive it this year, as we found out she has never received one.
Tomorrow we will add wire and beads to it before presenting her with the heart. Showing her how much she means to us, and how grateful we are to have her as our Art teacher.
Overall, it was a very mellow day In PK. Ella and Beatrix created a story using multiple manipulatives.
They were able to be flexible by allowing Fang and Luca to join their game. Fang and Luca listened to what the game was, and were able to come up with ways they could join and add to the game without changing it.
Nolan wanted to play a game of Snails Pace Race but was having difficulty finding someone to play with him until Fang and Austin decided to join. After the game was over Solveig decided to play with Nolan.
Writing center and Dress up came together today as friends made heart crowns and superhero costumes to wear while in Dress up.
Even Superheroes have to take their babies to school.
I managed to add a little math into our clean up today. We discussed how the food gets mixed up with the medical basket or the fabric basket making it hide to find what you want. The class sorted items into 4 groups, Vegetables, Meat/Protein, Bread, and Fruits/Desserts.
We read "Secret Valentine' by Catherine Stock. This is a sweet story about a little girl that learns that Valentines day is about showing others you love them while doing something you enjoy. The added bonus is realizing how much fun it is to receive them.
We also read "Good Night Vermont'. Another 'V' word to add to our list and a nice story telling us about all the things you can do in Vermont. Ms Lawrence came over to listen as she is from Vermont.
