Ms. Fanucchi worked with small groups of students. They worked in pairs following the beat with their triangles.

We had a group of students working together to create a spy house in big blocks. Then they worked on tools that spies need. It gave us the opportunity to revisit our rules on weapons. Magnet tiles and tubes were turned into listening devices, binoculars, spy glasses, rockets etc.
Meanwhile another group started working on a play. We had a little negotiating to do making sure that everyones voice was heard and respected. We agreed that everyone could be Elsa from Frozen, if they wanted, and that they need to rehearse all of their songs before performing for the rest of the class. I thought I would let you see a preview.
We ended the morning by reading 'The colors of us' by Karen Katz. A little girl (Lena) wants to paint a picture of herself. Her mother walks with her through their neighborhood and shows her that brown comes in many shades.
QUESTIONS
What did you have for snack today?
Can you remember any of the names Lena and her mom gave to the beautiful brown skin colors of her friends and neighbors?
We finished our morning by acting out Beatrix's play of 'The three little Tooth fairies and the big bad Fairy.'
