Map making continued this morning. Maps of the classroom, their homes and fairy worlds. I showed them how they could make their map look old, as Luca put it "It looks as if it has been around for hundreds of years."
Solveig and Margot used their maps to play school. Solveig was the teacher and Margot the helper teacher. At first their students were invisible, but then they realized they could use the 'mini me' puppets as their students.
Austin and Evy spent most of the morning chopping vegetables, helping create the chili for Open House on Thursday evening.

Playing families in dress up was popular today. Grace played a teenager, Beatrix played the baby and Valentina the magical unicorn.
Then who should appear in the house but a dinosaur. Grace very kindly fed him.
Luca decided it was time we decorated the classroom ready for Halloween. He took it upon himself to create pumpkins, witches and skull decorations. Only requesting help when tying them to the loft.
Mr Billadeau worked on a secret project with the class for Open House but we want to keep it a surprise. So much was achieved in such as short amount of time. Friends did not realize how hungry they were until we did last call for snack. As you can see the table was full.
Before going to P.E. we read the story of Harry the Tortoise by Martin Waddell. Harry is looking for a friend but the other animals go too fast to stop and listen to Harry.
After reading the story we practiced moving slowly like a tortoise, it takes a long time to line up when you move as slow as a tortoise.
You will also notice that your child has a little pumpkin in their backpack. The pumpkin was a gift from the children and educators at the 'Cub House Center' (Preschool in Harrison Ave. associated with The Blake School) They came to our classroom and brought a large container of pumpkins, enough for everyone.
Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow at the Open House. All the family is invited. Due to preparing the classroom for Open House I will not have the opportunity to do a blog tomorrow but will back on Friday.
