RADIAL PATTERNS

We have some expert radial pattern makers in our class this year.  Each child received a bowl with one hexagon and six, triangles, rhombuses, squares and trapezoids.  The goal was to make a radial pattern using all the shapes in their bowl.  Some of the children exceeded my expectations and needed extra pieces.











The whole class stayed with the lesson for a long time and started to create various designs and pictures.  Grace started standing some of her pieces on top of her radial pattern and others were inspired to do the same.









Work choice time went quickly.  Our construction site has a new pipe system which carries marbles from the top of the loft to the bottom.

Evy made a hat and told me she was ghost from ghostbusters. "Ms Small, the red spots are rabies and I am going to get you."  

Friends asked to join Evy and had a lot of fun being chased.

Before P.E. we acted out another play.  This one was called the 3 little robots and the big bad bird, written and illustrated by Leonard.

After the play we had time to read two stories about being sad.  Both books helped us to think about what makes us sad, that it is OK to feel sad, and what strategies we can use to help us when we are sad.

After P.E. we were all very happy and excited to celebrate Margot's 5th Birthday.   Our first birthday celebration was a success.  We made lots of wishes for Margot, and she and her family brought in a delicious treat of beignets. YUM!
