MUSIC, SOUP TASTING AND 8TH GRADE BUDDIES

Two new experiences today.  First thing this morning Ms Fanucchi (pronounced Fa-nu-key) joined us for Music class and taught us a few new songs.

Part of math in Pre-k is differentiating, sorting and classification.  Everyone found one yellow, one red, and one orange item in the classroom.  We looked at what made them different, the same, or exactly the same.

Are these the same? (Held up a variety of red scissors)
Everyone: "No."
Luca: "Because there's one that's bigger."
I showed them 3 animals from different color groups.
"What about these animals?"
Beatrix: "That ones bigger."
Margot: "They're all different colors."
Grace: "They're all animals."
Nolan looking at yellow objects "This one (truck) is smaller than that (tape).
What about these tapes?
Fang: They're all yellow
Beatrix: That one is small, that one is medium, and that one is big."
Margot:"That one is a different kind of tape."

Stone soup tasting was a workchoice this morning.  As you can see from the chart below a lot of friends in a community tried the soup.

Eighth grade buddies joined us and after introducing ourselves they made a card with their names on which they decorated.  The Prekers enjoyed connecting with their buddy.  The buddies will visit about once a month throughout the year. Most of the time they come to our classroom.  Occasionally we will visit them in the middle school.
