ADVENTURES WITH SNOW

This is yesterday's blog, I eventually managed to download the pictures.

What a busy day.  We started with Señor Geffen, he played a guessing game with us.  Each student took a turn at closing their eyes while  Señor Geffen placed a color in the  headband.  Then they had to guess what the color was.  Amarillo, Anaranjado Azul, Blanco, Cafe, Morado, Negro, Rosado, or Verde.

Ms. Lane joined us for Art.  She introduced working with a slab of clay and a coil of clay to make your initial.

We added more snow to the sensory table.  The children were engaged in making more ice-cream and snow cones especially after I added watercolors.

We discussed the book 'To be a King' that we read yesterday.

Q: How can you be a “king” in your community (being respectful, kind, and inclusive) just like Martin Luther King Jr.?

NOLAN: “Playing with other people.”
EVY: “You can say “are you ok” if someone gets hurt.”
BEATRIX: “No teasing (she showed us an example of teasing by making a mean face).”
GRACE: “No lying.”
IKE: “No kicking somebody”.
MARGOT: “No hitting - talk about it instead.”
BEATRIX: “No laughing at people. Don’t punch them in the eye.”
IKE: “No punching in the face.”
GRACE: “Be kind to people.”
MR.BILLADEAU: “What if someone is working on a project alone and they can’t do it themselves, could help them hold something while they put it together.”
MARGOT:” Like I was helping Solveig at inventions today.”
MS. SMALL: “Solveig, how did it make you feel when Margot helped you.”
SOLVEIG:”Good!”

Then we read The Nian Monster book as Saturday is Chinese New Year and we will be learning about how people celebrate the New Year tomorrow.

At the end of  the morning we headed out to the woods, everyone got ready in record time when they knew where we were going.

QUESTIONS
What are the three things you do with clay to make it stick together?
What color did you have to guess in Spanish?
