TALL TOWERS

This morning at group time we revisited building with Duplos.  I asked the class what they noticed about building one block on top of another.
LUCA: It went," he demonstrated the tower collapsing by falling over.
I asked Leonard if he could show everyone how he had put his blocks together.
Leonard put two blocks overlapping another two blocks.  Everyone in the class got a chance to overlap blocks, creating a small tower.

During work choice time some of the class decided they wanted to try and build the tower to the ceiling.

The tower became so tall we needed a step ladder, but it was also getting a little wobbly.  Margot decided we should put it against the wall to support it.

CRASH! It fell over.   Fortunately no one was upset and the children were already thinking about how to rebuild.
MARGOT: "We can do one long, one short."
SOLVEIG: "Yes, Short, long, short, long....."
At this point we had to get ready for P.E. Tomorrow we will try again.

Beatrix worked with the Geo-boards creating geometric shapes using rubber bands.

Ike worked with the geometric connecting shapes "Ms Small, it's the sun."

IKE: "Now it's a snowflake."

EVY: "I made two crabs."

At the end of the morning the children acted out Luca's play The three little witches and the big bad skeleton.

We also read The snowy day by Ezra Jack Keats, about a little boy that goes for a walk in the snow.

QUESTIONS
Can you remember one of the months that has 'J' in it?
What type of tracks did Peter make in the snow?
What did he find in the snow?
What happened to the snow ball in his pocket?
